Ava's currently in the midst of a very interesting language phase. She's grouping and categorizing her vocabulary. Some examples:
Apple = apples, grapes, oranges
Daddy = most any man, particularly those around Mike's age with glasses
Mommy = most women around my age
Chair = chairs, stollers, high chairs, car seats, stuffed horses lying on their side so a doll will fit between the legs
Bath = bath, ocean, lakes, pools
Elmo = entire cast of Sesame Street
Fish = fish and birds
The most amusing case of grouping happened while we were on vacation and Ava first saw her cousin, Rhys. The two girls are only 3.5 months apart and the moment Ava laid eyes on her she yelled "Ava!". After many unsuccessful tries to capture it on film, I finally got it:
